Makeup Tips - For the Fall and Winter Season

It can be hard to go outside the norm when it comes to choosing a makeup color. Typically, when you find the color that works for you, it is that same color you grab out of the cosmetic bag every day.

With the season changing however, cosmetic experts are saying to take a chance and change your look. And whatever you do - make it bold! Instead of keeping up with the soft, sporty, sun-kissed look of the summer, one makeup tip is to begin using more bold colors in your makeup regime to take you into the fall season, said Barbara Harrington, a Hockessin resident and distributor for SeneGence International®.

Bold lip and eye colors are perfect for fall seasonal events and holiday parties. And vibrant make-up will offset the darker, heavier clothing often found in your fall/winter wardrobe. So, be fearless with color, but be careful not to go overboard" cautions Harrington as her next makeup tip.

"A bold eye or a bold lip is the perfect accessory for the fall," said Harrington. "Pick a feature to define: bright, bold colors like berry tones, plums and reds are perfect for lips and deep shades such as indigo, onyx and charcoal will make the eyes really stand out are some other makeup tips to consider for transition into our next season."

"This is the time of year where you can try new things while defining your best features. Be creative and have fun with color," said Harrington. "With bright, bold colors, you can make a statement." Berry-toned colors usually work for all skin tones, but if you are not sure which colors will look best on you and if you don't usually wear makeup. "

"Accentuate one feature: Pick either your eyes or lips. If you heavily define both features, it will look overwhelming and unnatural" states Harrington. There is no need to be heavy on the blush either when there is emphasis on your eyes or lips, but a touch of bronzing powder on your chin, forehead and cheek will give a nice sun-kissed look that is perfect year-round," said Harrington in her next makeup tip.

How to Keep Your Skin Young and Healthy

The aging process of the skin is caused by known factors. Skin aging can in great extend be avoided by simple means and aging symptoms in the skin can also often be cured by the same measures. Here are some practical anti-aging measures for the skin presented:

Protection against the sun
You should enjoy the sunshine with reason. Some daily exposure from sun-rays on the skin will not hurt. On the contrary, it will in fact do your skin good. The skin gets a better colour, and it gets somewhat thicker and more robust. Massive daily exposure, however, has a very disturbing influence on the skin, and will cause all types of skin problems: Wrinkles, brown spots, discolouring, very thin or very thick skin, dry skin and cancer. To keep your skin young and healthy in the long run, you must protect your skin when you are outside for longer times.

Taking lecithin
You should take some supplement of lecithin or a product containing lecithin. Lecithin is a fatty substance. It is an important constituent of all body tissues. It consists of glycerol, fatty acids, cholin, ethanolamine, inositol and serine. The four latter constituents are working tools used in nerve signal transmission and in tissue regeneration. Lecithin is especially important for the function and regeneration of nerve tissue and the skin. Lecithin also has a cleansing effect upon the skin. It helps the sebaceous gland to produce cleansing secretions. Taking a daily dose of lecithin alone or a product containing lecithin will greatly help to keep the skin young and regenerate the skin from damage.

Eating fish and seafood
A dish of fish or seafood at least every second day has proven to keep the skin in good condition and help the skin to avoid sun damage. You should include fat fish, since fat fish has an especially high content of vitamin A and D, important for the skin health.

Use of plant-oils upon your skin
Using a topical product containing certain types of plant oils or even using some of the pure oils upon the skin daily will make the skin smooth and ease regeneration from damage. Oils that have these effects are: Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Borage Oil, Soy Oil, Wheat Germ Oil and Olive oil. Pure olive oil of good quality can be used alone upon the skin after the daily wash. The amount needed is very little. Use exactly as much that is needed to saturate the skin and make it smooth.

Consuming olive oil and other natural oils
Using olive oil in your dishes will help to keep your skin young, and help the skin to regenerate from damage and aging symptoms. Olive oil contains much mono-unsaturated acids and much of vitamin E. However, your skin will also need essential poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Therefore you should also consume some amount of other types of oils or supplements containing poly-unsaturated oils especially valuable for your skin. Other plant oils with fatty acids beneficial for your skin are: Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Borage Oil, Soy Oil, and Wheat Germ Oil.

Taking conjugated linolaeic acid (cla)
CLA is a fatty acid produced in the stomach of cows by bacteria, taken up into the cow's blood-stream and secreted into the milk. This acid has shown to help the skin regenerate from damage and keep the skin in a juvenile state. Taking CLA as a supplement may help you get finer skin, and also help you to keep your weight at a wanted level. Fat milk and diary products also contain CLA and can improve your skin health. However, great amounts of fat diary products are not good for your heart and circulation.

The daily care of your skin
The skin should be washed at least once every day with a mild soap or cleansing product. Men should shave during the wash or after the wash, depending upon the shaving method used. Then you should use some oil or cream to protect your skin and to make it smooth and elastic. Use a product containing natural oils with anti-aging properties.

If you suffer from acne or other skin problems, the cleansing product and the protecting cream should contain ingredients to treat this problem. Before exposing your skin to heavy sunshine for a longer time, you should also use some additional product with sun-shield. If you have used a product with sun-shield or make-up during the day, this should be washed away in the evening, and a new layer of protecting cream laid on.

More basic washing and care that that outlined here, is not necessary, and may in fact damage your skin. The same is true for heavy use of make-up.

Don’t smoke
Smoking has a very negative effect upon the skin in the long run, and will cause a lot of wrinkles.

Caring for your cosmetics

Here we have outlined the five key things that can affect the efficacy and physical properties of cosmetics and personal care products. from: www.mdperfumes.com.au Cosmetics and personal care products have been designed to function in a particular way throughout their shelf life.

Many people often forget that products still need to be cared for in order for them to continue to provide the same function and feel experienced when initially purchased.

Heat Light Moisture Contamination Age
Below is a do and don't checklist for ensuring that your products maintain their high quality.

Do
Use products within 6 to 12 months of purchase. Ensure that jars, bottles and tubes are sealed properly after use, by making sure the cap is on firmly. Use spatulas provided and, where possible, avoid using fingers.

Don't
Store your products in the car: high temperatures make some products separate and discolour. Store in direct sunlight, for example on a window sill: this can discolour products and cause them to break down prematurely.

Products can become contaminated with water and bacteria by:
Excessive exposure to air and water. Diluting products with tap water, e.g. shampoos and cleansers Sharing products, without using a clean spatula or pad. Mixing two products together, except where specified. Leaving caps off or loose.

Nail care Taking good care of your nails involves getting proper nourishment; avoiding excessive contact with damaging material and taking due care while working. Household chores can be damaging to your nails because many of the solvents and cleaners that are used are not meant for your skin or nails. It is a good practice to wear gloves while you are doing household chores, particularly when you are handling suspect material.

Choosing the color Cherry red, pink, coral - these are some of the colors in which you get your nail polish. You can even get them in green or yellow, and look good in them if you know how to use them. How do you choose the color of your nail polish? You should choose a shade such that it will enhance your beauty. That would depend on your complexion.

Fair complexion will go well with almost any color, darker colors being more effective in striking a contrast. If you are dark skinned, lighter shades should suit you better. Shades such as red and rich brown would also suit darker skins. You can also choose between glossy or matte shades.

The polish that you choose should match your general appearance, your clothes and jewelry and other makeup. To make you task easier, some companies offer makeup kits that contain matching items covering all the makeup items that you will need. For formal or semi formal occasions and first meetings, light colors and basic neutrals are best.

If your toenails are exposed, you can choose matching nail polish for your toes and fingernails. Ultimately, though, choosing the color of your nail polish is a very personal decision that you have to make, depending on what your personal preferences are and what kind of a personality you project. Other considerations Quick drying nail polishes are available that will dry quickly, but they may also tend to chip off easily.

Strong and longer lasting nail polishes are also available. Depending on your need and environment you can choose one of these. Strong chip resistant nail polish should be preferable for daily wear, as you will not need to touch these up frequently. You can also get strong chip resistant and quick drying nail polishes. While choosing your nail polish you should also consider your general health and allergies.

If you have sensitive skin, you should choose hypoallergenic and unscented nail polishes. Applying nail polish There are some basic facts that you can keep in mind while applying nail polish. First of all, remove all traces of the existing polish from your nails. Apply a base coat first. After this, apply two coats of the nail enamel. Apply the polish in a few large strokes rather than several small strokes.

Before Performing Cosmetic Surgery

It is only logical that people need to look and feel their best. But nature is not perfect and neither are we. From time to time, more and more people have entered the plastic or cosmetic surgeons' offices determined to get rid off, or change, one or more of their features and improve their looks.

Multiple studies have even shown that performing a desired plastic surgery can alter the way people feel about themselves. Attaining the looks we want actually has direct impact on our personality. People tend to build their confidence and feel comfortable with their characteristics. But, from reducing the size of a nose to completely altering the way a person looks, a huge gap exists and people should be aware of what plastic or cosmetic surgery is and what are the risks entailed, before committing to perform the operation that will lead them closer to their dream self.

Recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties, plastic surgery is a general term for operative manual and instrumental treatment which is performed for functional or aesthetic reasons.

In fact, the word plastic derives from a Greek word and means "to mold" or "to shape." Plastic surgery is a rather broad category that also includes reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Thus, cosmetic surgery is a subcategory of plastic surgery and helps to improve the appearance of a person by correcting the defects or improving its functions.

Originally introduced to minimize the disfigurement caused by accidents, disease, or birth, cosmetic surgery has gone a long way since its introduction and it is now also referred to as aesthetic surgery. Aesthetic surgery changes existing facial or body features to improve appearance, but the need for it to be performed is mainly psychological and not functional.

Demonstrated by 11.9 million cosmetic procedures performed in the US alone in 2004, cosmetic surgery is a very popular avenue for personal enhancement. Designed to improve cosmetics, or appearance, this type of procedure has drawn the attention of million of people around the globe, who wished to improve a specific feature on their body by deciding to "correct" one of nature's mistakes in a surgeon's room.

Since it takes a visit nowadays to correct a physical flaw, or one developed through time, people are eager to visit a cosmetic surgeon's clinic and spend a huge amount of income to perform an anti-wrinkle treatment like a botox injection, or thousand other cosmetic surgery procedures to stop the clock or become a better version of who they really are. Since our society gives priority to youth and beauty-as depicted in fashion and lifestyle magazines-people perceive the imagery they are fed as the only acceptable image they should themselves portray.

Loosing hair, teeth, and body shape, can lead a person to perform some type of cosmetic surgery procedure in order to recapture the lost youth.

Although through cosmetic surgery people can change the way the feel and ultimately behave and not only the way they look, cosmetic surgery entails a risk; after all it is a surgery.

Complications during the procedure or unfavorable consequences after its completion, can lead people to file lawsuits reclaiming their lost money, time, features and psychological state. Thus, before having to deal with bleeding or more serious complications, like infections, a person considering of performing a cosmetic surgery has to research extensively the solutions provided and minimize the risks involved by finding the recognized surgery center that its reviews increase the possibilities of successfully completing the procedure.

Having to suffer later has never been among the desired outcomes of cosmetic surgery that exists only to help one feel and function better.

Five Miracles of Skin Care

Simplify your beauty routine and improve your complexion with these five plant-based skin care miracles.

Miracle 1: The Healing Gel
Aloe vera is a lopsided, spiny succulent that holds a natural pharmacy of skin-care nutrients. Keep this plant on your windowsill and scoop the soothing gel from its leaves to bring almost instant relief from sunburns, household burns, and scrapes.

It is an amazing healer, an anti-inflammatory, and a cell-growth promoting herb. Aloe vera contains an alphabet of vitamins, including B12, which is rarely found in plants. Aloe vera also provides 20 of the 22 amino acids and seven of the eight amino acids the body requires. It is a traditional healing herb in India, Hawaii, and all countries where it is indigenous. Anecdotal tales of its health benefits date back to pre-Egyptian times.

Modern-day studies continue to reveal the healing power of this gelatinous wonder. Aloe can be used topically as well as internally to detoxify and rejuvenate from the inside out-try drinking one-quarter cup (60 mL) of aloe juice three times per week.

Miracle 2: Petal Soft and Soothing
Stress and the pollutants we encounter every day are the cause of fine lines and wrinkles. Camomile creams, rich in levomenol, help to improve skin texture and reduce signs of aging. Camomile soothes and heals rashes, scrapes, and wounds.

The volatile oil of camomile reduces inflammation, stimulates tissue healing, moisturizes, and refreshes. As an effective antiseptic it should be included in every home first-aid kit. How one pretty little plant can offer such a range of healing power is one of nature's miracles. People with dry skin may benefit from drinking a cup of camomile tea every day.

To refresh tired skin, do a camomile steam: simmer three handfuls of dried camomile in three litres of water for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let the steam rise to your face for 15 minutes. Camomile-even the name is gentle.

Miracle 3: Australia's Gift to Skin Care
Tea tree oil is the skin-care lotion for troubled times. Traditionally used by aboriginal tribes of Australia, the properties of this plant seem endless: antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral, anti-inflammatory-the list goes on.

Tea tree oil helps heal broken skin, fights infection, and encourages healing by forming new tissue. Dry cracked lips respond readily to lip salve containing tea tree oil. Try adding a drop of tea tree oil to your regular moisturizer for added healing and toning benefits.

Miracle 4: Exfoliating Foods
Apples, grapes, milk, and yogourt not only make a healthy breakfast, they are the source of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). These food-based acids are the skin cleansers of the cosmetics industry, and are used in many skin creams, lotions, and facial masks.

AHAs safely and gently remove greyish dead cells from the surface of the skin, revealing a fresh, healthy complexion. AHAs are the miracle rejuvenators. It's easy to make an AHA mask or scrub with everyday kitchen items-combine yogourt with a bit of honey and some mashed fruit, such as strawberries. Slop on your face and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse. Following exfoliation with AHAs, the skin is susceptible to sunburn; a sunscreen should be used even on a cloudy day.

Miracle 5: Silica for Smooth, Silky Skin
Horsetail is never welcomed by gardeners, but don't expect to get rid of it soon. This plant is a member of the Equisetaceae family, which formed the primitive forests that covered the earth millions of years ago. Horsetail is one of the plants richest in silica, which is essential for strong cell structure.

Collagen supplements containing horsetail bring strength and elasticity to skin tissue. Silica is available as a liquid supplement and in tablet form. Shampoos and moisturizers containing silica are less effective because silica is difficult to absorb through the skin.

Put your best face forward this spring with these five plant-based skin care miracles.

Protecting the Skin Just Got Easier

Astounding ground breaking news on sunscreen and skin cancer is revealed. It is a new sunscreen product that promises to be the cornerstone of every anti-aging skin care regime.

On 7/24/04 the FDA approved a new over-the-counter sunscreen, Anthelios SX, developed by L'Oreal.

A sunscreen that now goes farther than ever before to protect against sun damage and skin cancer. The news world is abuzz with the newest FDA approval of Anthelios SX, a long lasting OTC sunscreen with a new ingredient to the USA market, ecamsule. It seems like the Fountain of Youth just got a little closer to discovery...

The FDA news release, #P06-103, states "Anthelios SX is a sunscreen product that contains a combination of three active ingredients. One of the ingredients is a new molecular entity (NME), ecamsule. Ecamsule has not been marketed in the United States, but has been marketed in Europe and Canada as Mexoryl SX since 1993. The other two active ingredients, avobenzone and octocrylene, are generally recognized as safe and effective under the current OTC monograph for sunscreens."

ABC News reporter Joy Victory addresses the sunscreen and skin cancer protection by explaining, "For the first time since 1988, the Food and Drug Administration today approved a new type of sunscreen compound that protects skin from shortwave ultraviolet A light and doesn't break down as easily as other products.

Most sunscreens available in the United States protect only against long-wave UVA and both forms of ultraviolet B light. But the new compound, known as ecamsule, has long been available in Europe and Canada. It is made by the L'Oreal cosmetics company.

The new product is considered a superior sunscreen chemical because of its ability to block UVA light -- a harmful, wrinkle-causing form of sunlight -- and because it lasts longer in the sun. The product, Mexoryl SX, contains two standard sunscreen chemicals as well as ecamsule and will be sold as a daily moisturizer cream. It should be on pharmacy shelves sometime this fall, but it's not known how much it will cost. It will be sold under the name Anthelios SX."

Victory wrapped up her report with an interview comment from Dr. Vincent DeLeo, chairman of the dermatology department at Columbia University, reporting that Dr. DeLeo stated that "... the European equivalent was sorely needed in the United States. How to Have Healthy Skin

Having a healthy skin is the dream of most of us. But most of us feel that healthy skin in all about blemish free or staying out of the sun but there are many other factors to consider.

You have to care for your skin if you want to have radiantly healthy skin. The way you treat your skin for its betterment depends on you, some use delicate ways to sooth their skin whereas some use harsh bar soap to scrub their skin every night.

You must have seen many skin care systems in most of the drug or department store whenever you visit there. Many people are confused over which is the best system to use on their skin to make it more healthy.

These days many such skin care systems are available online in different types and models. Almost all of us are aware about the products available for face is highly recommended for cleansing our delicate mugs. You can select the best suitable product according to your skin type. You may use cleanser and moisturizer to care for your face and neck skin. If you are suffering from acne then you can find different medicines or various types to clear your skin free from acne.

The natural way to have a healthy skin is to eat balanced diet rich in skin nutrients and drink a lot of water to flush out the waste from the body as what we eat does excrete through pores of our skin.

Most of the people had a myth that tan is good for their skin and would help them to have a healthy skin. Studies have revealed that tan is the main cause for the premature aging and wrinkles as it has adverse effect on your delicate epidermis in the skin. Therefore, I would always recommend you to use sun screen lotions or sun block creams for healthy skin.

You must use mild hot water for bath instead of hot water as hot water strips the skin of its natural oils resulting in unhealthy skin. So use good quality skin care products to have healthy skin.

Dark Circles Under Your Eyes?

Would you like to eliminate those nasty looking dark circles under your eyes naturally? Are tired of your eyes looking like they have come off second best against Mike Tyson? The great news is getting rid of those dark eye circles is possible once you know the possible causes and the appropriate remedies.

The truth is that 9 out 10 people do suffer from dark circles under their eyes at some time or another, so there is no need to feel alone. However, it is also true that no other facial flaw is more noticeable to everyone else that is looking at your face than dark circles are.

This is because most people automatically interpret someone with dark eye circles as a certain sign of someone who is unhealthy with poor living habits, whether it is true or not.

Whether in your personal or professional life (where first impressions count) this is not usually the appearance you want to give. So, what to do about it? Read on for the top 3 causes and natural remedies.

In reality the appearance of dark circles under your eyes can have many different culprits.

Top 5 Causes of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes
1. Exposure to the sun: Because the skin under your eye is very thin, prolonged exposure to sunlight (especially during summer months) can cause hyper-pigmentation which consequently gives you dark circles.

2. Heredity: A combination of deep-set eyes and a family trait of transparent skin can produce the dark eye circles.

3. Lack of Sleep/Fatigue: These common factors lead to paleness of the skin - particularly the sensitive area under your eyes - which illuminates the blood flowing beneath your skin giving the appearance of dark circles under your eyes.

4. Aging: As you get older the folds of skin under your eyes can become more pronounced leading to the dark circle affect.

5. Skin Allergies: Any skin condition that causes your skin to itch making you scratch or rub your skin causing a darkening of the area around your eyes.

Top 3 Natural Remedies
Below are 3 simple ways that you can take advantage of to help with your tired looking eyes.

1. Cold Tea bags and Cucumbers: For a truly natural remedy use cold tea bags and cucumbers! There is definitely is something soothing with having cucumbers and tea bags on top of your eyes. Tea bags and cucumbers reduce vascular inflammation and decrease swelling. This combination is especially good for dark swollen circles because there is tannin inside of the tea that helps with eliminating the puffiness.

2. Concealer: For a more conventional solution try using a concealer. Using yellow will neutralize the blues, purples, and husky hues on the skin. This does not rid the problem, but can build your confidence for the day to alleviate the 'tired look'. I recommend ONE Group certified organic concealer to cure dark circles under your eyes.

3. Anti-oxidants: Antioxidant treatments help to reduce fluid buildup under the eyes, which decreases the look of the dark circles. Go for treatments that involve a lot of vitamin C and GHK copper peptides. Also, vitamin K is great for restoring stability and strength to the blood vessels under the eyes, which reduces their proliferation.

Choose Your Skin Lightening Products Wisely

In Asia, Africa and South America, the pervasiveness of fair-skinned beauties in the media, as well as the cultural preference towards lighter skin has fuelled public demand for skin lightening products. The tendency of pigmented skin to be more prone to developing hyperpigmentation has also contributed to this demand.

This is evidenced by the fact that in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea and Thailand, nearly 2 out of 5 women use skin lightening creams.

In this multi-million dollar industry, big brands such as Olay and L'oreal often find themselves competing with fly-by-night operators packaging their products in home 'factories'. There are literally hundreds of whitening products on the market of these countries, and in most of them, regulation is either very lax or non-existent.

Many consumers in these countries have tried whitening products from international, high-end brands, chiefly because of their reputation for safety and quality, only to discover that they have effectively thrown their money away on products who's active ingredients are so diluted, they do nearly nothing in terms of lightening the skin or alleviating hyperpigmentation problems. In the end, these consumers often resort to lesser-known and uncertified skin lightening products that promise fast results at very low prices.

There are indeed many cheap skin lightening products that produce fast results . However, consumers often find themselves paying a much higher price later, in the form of permanent skin damage, or worse, organ damage and skin cancer. This is because such products use dangerous chemicals like hydroquinone and mercury as their active ingredient.

These ingredients are prevalent in cheap lightening products because of the low cost of the ingredients - hydroquinone in particular, is far cheaper compared to other safer melanin-inhibitors such as concentrated licorice extract.

Mercury or hydroquinone will initially cause the skin to lighten by inhibiting production of melanin. Without melanin formation, no brown pigmentation will be visible. This produces the much-vaunted "instant lightening" results. However, the long-term effects of these two chemicals are not so good.

Mercury or hydroquinone has been known to cause blotchiness, uneven skin tone, easily sunburnt skin, peeling skin, increased hyperpigmentation, thickened skin, large pores, itchiness, redness, dark patches, light pink patches, and signs of premature aging such as lines and wrinkles.

That's not the worst of it. Since both hydroquinone and mercury are carcinogenic ingredients, long-term use of can cause skin cancer. Mercury in particular can cause liver and kidney failure, as well as damage to the nervous system. Mercury is also extremely toxic to unborn children, and pregnant mothers using mercury-containing creams risk giving birth to babies with brain damage and other deformations.

The use of mercury in skincare has been banned from most countries. Hydroquinone has been banned from the UK since 2001 and has been recently banned in Asian countries like Malaysia. In the US however, skincare products containing less than 2% of hydroquinone are still sold over the counter.

So the next time you go out shopping for skin lightening/whitening products, make sure that the ingredients are printed on the product box or container. Also, ensure that the product has been certified by the local food/drug/cosmetics regulation board of the country of manufacture.
Be careful of what you put on your skin - it's the only one you have!

Oily Skin Care Treatment Information

The sebaceous glands in your skin form an oil called sebum, which lubricates and protects the surface of your skin. When the glands are overproductive and form too much sebum, your skin can appear greasy, shiny and course, with large pores and more frequent breakouts. This condition is known as oily skin.

Oily skin can be caused by a wide variety of factors, including genetics, fluctuating hormone levels, dietary choices, certain cosmetics and hot, humid weather. Although oily skin is prevalent in teenagers because skin becomes dryer with age, it can occur at any age. When your skin is oily only in certain areas, this is known as combination skin. The one advantage of having oily skin is that it tends to age at a slower rate than any other type of skin.

For oily skin care treatment, it is imperative to cleanse oily skin two to three times per day. Gentle cleansers with lukewarm water work best to remove oils without stripping the surface of the skin. A gentle astringent or toner should be used after cleansing.

Finally, a light moisturizer that is not oil-based can be used in areas prone to dryness, such as around the eyes and mouth. Since oily skin tends to be scaly, the use of a mask twice a week can be very helpful in deep cleansing the pores and removing dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Another great technique for cleansing the pores is to steam your face over hot water for several minutes twice a week. This loosens the sebum in clogged pores and makes your skin look cleaner and more vital.

Healthy living habits can also improve the appearance and condition of oily skin. Drinking six to eight glasses of water per day, regular exercise and sleep and avoiding cigarettes are good ways to have beautiful skin. Supplementing your diet with vitamins A, B, C, E and zinc also promote healthy skin.

With a little extra attention, you can dramatically improve the condition and appearance of your oily skin. If these ideas do not help and your skin remains prone to constant breakouts, you may have a skin condition known as acne, which requires additional care and treatment.

Protect Your Skin At All Cost!

If there is one human body part, which caused a lot of unrest and wars in the history, it is the skin. When one talks of skin care, colors fade out quickly; skin care is a colorless, boundary-less world. Everyone wishes to have a healthy skin, fresh & glowing all time.

For that matter age is definitely not a bar. From a newly born baby to a woman in her 50s or more will like to take care of their skin. For example a newly born baby is prone to rashes due to the mild skin, and as we grow along with our hectic day to day activity, you are exposed to the harsh sunlight, dust and other pollutants; whereas old age welcomes us with wrinkles.

As the saying goes "Prevention is better than cure", we have so many low cost remedies to take care of our skin, Why not take advantage and start trying on your skin to have a glowing radiant and a healthy skin.

How to take care of the skin
1. New born babies should be kept clean and in a hygienic environment. Diaper rash is a common skin problem in them. Try to avoid diapers at home, keep that part of the body clean free from sweat. If the sweat remains for a short period also, bacteria is generated and one can observe those harsh rashes on the tender baby's skin. If the baby is healthy, rashes appear on the flexible, hand and leg muscle joints due to accumulation of sweat. Mix a pinch of baking soda in lukewarm water and clean the sweat at the joints with cotton swabs. Keep the baby free from sweat. Then to if you could not avoid those rashes, sprinkle Clotrimaxazole powder on the rashes.

2. Basic rule for any body to take care of the skin is to keep it healthy. Drink lots of water, 2 liters a day, avoid those junk and oily foods, which are the root cause for blackheads, acnes and pimples. Instead of soap, which is alkaline in nature, you can use face wash of any reputed brand as it is acidic and is not rough on your skin.

3. Use of herbal/fruit face packs, depending on the type of your skin, you can use it occasionally. Commercially available anti aging creams or lotions are hardly dependable. Wrinkles are caused due to the decrease in collagen content in the endodermis (inner layer of skin). This is irreversible.

Just look around for tips on skincare, it may surprise you; you will come up 100s of home preparation techniques too. A small caution here, keep unreliable tips and cosmetics at a distance. The basic principle is 'happy skin is beautiful skin'. You may cross check a cosmetic's reliability on FDA website.

Worried About Stretch Marks?

If you have stretch marks and are concerned if they will ever just go away, the answer is no. Stretch marks are there to stay unless you wish to have surgery to rid your body of these unsightly blemishes on your skin.

No matter how you developed stretch marks whether you received them while pregnant, developing large muscle mass, through growth spurts or just be gaining weight rapidly they will at least fade over time.

Stretch marks start out as small tiny pink lines that can change into purple lines and then after a while turn a silvery white with fair complexions, with darker complexions they will normally turn out to be a bit lighter than your normal skin tone.

The good news is there are lotions, creams, ointments, and home remedies that can help your stretch marks fade even more. Some popular creams to help with the appearance of stretch marks are Palmers Cocoa Butter, Shea Nut Butter, and Tretinoin cream. Palmers Cocoa Butter and Shea Nut Butter can be used while pregnant to help with moisturize your skin.

Tretinoin cream is not advisable in pregnant women or breast-feeding mothers. You can use either of the three above mentioned creams or butters right after birth, except in the case of breast-feeding, you should begin using the ointments shortly after birth on all areas that have developed stretch marks. This will help make them fade faster.

Using these and even Vitamin E oil can be a great preventive measure for whatever reason you are anticipating weight gain or muscle gain. You should apply them once in the morning and once in the evening prior to retiring to gain the most you can for moisturizing your skin.

If all else fails and you still do not like the looks of these stretch marks, laser surgery and tummy tuck surgery is always an option. There are three different types of tummy tuck surgeries for you to choose from which depend on how much excessive fat and skin you need to have removed. Liposuction can accompany some tummy tuck procedures. Laser surgery is a great option if you do not have excessive sagging skin that needs removed.

There are quite a few women that carry their stretch marks as if they were medals of honor, understanding that these marks are only a sign of motherhood. They tend to live with the blemishes and use makeup when it is really necessary to hide them. Using makeup is a wonderful way in which to hide these types of blemishes, however, you should use foundation that is the same skin tone as your normal skin and be sure to use waterproof makeup or you will have a mess on your hands.

Acne: Not Only A Problem Of Teens

A common misconception about acne is that it is a syndrome of the teenage days. But in reality, acne is extremely common in the latter phases of one's life.

For instance, for a number of women acne is one of the menopausal syndromes, just the same way they are the part of puberty. The hormonal imbalance relating to pregnancy of taking birth control pills also lead to appearance of acne. Some women even experience the occurrence of acne before every menstrual circle.

From the dermatological perspective, acne is the result of blockage of the pores of your skin. Excessive oiliness, caused by excess production of oil in the sebaceous glands leads to accumulation of dead cells on the openings of the pores which in turn become the breeding ground for bacteria. This bacterial invasion results into inflammation and red spots.

Now excessive oiliness is mainly a result of hormonal imbalances with a high level of androgen and testosterone hormones. Then hereditary factors and use of wrong cosmetics are also two common causes behind development of acne in some people.

Acne is a skin irruption that may take many forms ranging from a small red spot to large, painful, pus filled and swelled cyst. Generally, we all suffer at some points of our lives from milder form of acne. These do not leave any scar. Even if there is any scar, it disappears naturally over time. But there are people who suffer from acute acne, which in dermatological terms are called Nodulocystic, leave sign of deep scars in the skin in most cases.

Medical science has not been able to discover any medication that can help in complete prevention of acne. But the good news is that there are different types of treatments which work for reducing the severity of the acne so that it does not create scars and the risks of infection are also avoided. The general objective of various types of acne is same at the basic level. They all fight against the common factors leading to acne.

They are aimed at reducing the oil production and excessive thickening of dead cells at the follicles. They also prevent bacterial invasion, and reduce inflammation. You can get some of these medicines over the counter, while others are prescription medicine. In addition to topical ointments, the oral medicines are also used in the treatment of acne. In recent times, vitamin b-5 based medication has become quite popular, while medicines of Isotretinoin group are prescribed for the acute cases of acne.

To get the best result from any of the treatments, stick to a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. Wash your face adequately with pH balanced soap free cleansers and keep the system hydrated by plenty of water. Go for a nutritious and light diet to keep the liver and other organs on their best state.
